Policies for Recitals and Performances
WHAT KIND OF PERFORMANCES ARE THERE?
There will be a variation of live recitals and pre-recorded performances, depending on the year and how the interest is looking like. For the virtual recitals, those will happen online in real time through Zoom. For pre-recorded performances, singers will be asked to record any song they are working on from home and send it back in for us to edit and turn it into an online show for an audience to watch at any given time.
DO YOU NEED TO AUDITION FOR PERFORMANCES?
Nope. There are no auditions to be considered. Recitals and other performance opportunities are only for ongoing recurring voice students. It’s a chance to showcase what they have been working on and to perform in front of an audience to build confidence. You just need to sign up and you get to perform.
DOES EVERY VOICE STUDENT HAVE TO DO IT?
Performances are not mandatory but highly encouraged. All active students on the roster who have taken lessons in the last 3 months are invited, but if you do not wish to participate you do not have to. If you are someone who is working towards building performance experience, you should definitely take advantage of the opportunities. It is just another way to help voice students practice putting their technique into action, especially for those who want to gain confidence and perform on stage more.
CERTIFICATE OF PARTICIPATION
If you sign up for a recital, you will receive a certificate for your participation.
DO YOU HAVE TO BE A CURRENT STUDENT?
Yes! All current and active students on the roster who have taken lessons in the last 3 months are invited. If you haven’t taken any lessons in the last 3 months, whether it’s for private voice lessons or audition coaching, then you will not be eligible for an invite.
DROP-OUT FEE FOR PERFORMANCES
If you have signed up for a recital or a performance and decide to drop out in the middle, you will be required to pay a Drop Out Fee of $10. By signing up for a recital or performance, you are agreeing to this policy, no exceptions.
UPFRONT FEE FOR IN-PERSON PERFORMANCES
In-Person performances are different and will require a separate fee to be paid upfront by singers to rent out the venue. Once you pay for a spot, you will not be able to ask for a refund.
REQUIREMENTS TO STAY IN THE SHOW
All students who signed up must finish at least 4 private lessons before the week of the show. If you do not meet the requirements you will need to pay the Drop Out Fee and be dropped from the show.

DROP-IN VOICE STUDENT REQUIREMENTS
For those who are drop-ins, you must schedule and pay for at least 4 drop-ins from the day you sign up to a few days before the show date. You can book more if you want extra practice. You must reserve those 4 lessons right away after you sign up. Lessons cannot be scheduled as you go. Make sure to read the pricing and guidelines for drop-in students. If you do not meet the requirements and it is the week before the show, you will need to pay the Drop Out Fee for signing up and not following through with the requirements.

AUDITION COACHING STUDENT REQUIREMENTS
Students who are paying for the audition coaching packages are also eligible to be invited to these performances as long as they were a student within the last 3 months. Once you sign up for the performances, you must continue your training through the coaching program with at least 4 sessions from the day you sign up to the week of the show. If you do not meet the requirements and it is the week before the show, you will need to pay the Drop Out Fee for signing up and not following through with the requirements.
PARTICIPATION EXPECTATION
Students who signed up must show up to performance day and follow through with the commitment. Students are taught responsibility and dedication to their skills, therefore part of the training is learning how to commit to things once you say you will do it. It is highly frowned upon if you drop out last minute since time and energy was spent making sure the recital is ready for all participants. If it happens more than once, you will no longer be invited to the next recitals.
MEDIA AND PHOTO DISCLOSURE
By agreeing to participate in the recital, you are giving full permission for Tina (voice teacher and studio owner) to make use of any footage or images for promotional purposes. Videos or photos may be uploaded onto Youtube or other social media platforms. The authorization shall continue indefinitely unless you otherwise tell me that you do not wish to be published anywhere. Last names of performers will not be used on social media when crediting singers to protect identity.
WILL THERE BE A RECORDING?
Yes, the recitals will be recorded and each performer gets their copy at the end.
PAST STUDENTS
If you were a student in the past but haven’t taken lessons in a while (last 3 months), you will not be contacted with an invite. However, the dates of performances are usually updated on the website, so if you know that one of your goals is to participate in one of the shows, then plan ahead and book some sessions to put you back on the active roster.
